Tremethick
House Cornwall
Resident's guide to Tremethick House
Tastefully decorated and furnished, the house
is planned to the last detail for the convenience, security and
happiness of its residents.
NVQ trained and experienced staff ensure 24 hour care and attention,
and there are facilities, support and time to enjoy many interesting
activities: even to learn new skills and hobbies with Carole, our
activities co-ordinator, a former secondary teacher.
Our aim is to give friendly care and support in pleasant surroundings,
enabling residents to enjoy life and live it to the full.
Built on two floors, Tremethick, which has accommodation for twenty-eight
residents, has so much to offer. There are several comfortable lounges
including the conservatory, dining room and quiet sitting areas
on both floors. A full-size lift operates between the two floors
providing freedom of movement for residents.
Needless to say our catering staff ensure the standard of cuisine
matches the delightful surroundings, and all staff involved in food
preparation or service hold Food Hygiene certificates.
Assistance is available with a range of crafts and residents may
visit Tremethick's own hair salon.
There is a comprehensive library service and interesting excursions
are also arranged.
Visiting clergy enable residents to participate in religious observance
even when they do not wish to leave the home.
Many of the delightfully furnished private bedrooms
are en-suite, while others are located close to the assisted bathrooms
provided on each floor, with help available for those who need it.
Although the bedrooms are already cosy and inviting, every facility
is given to residents who wish to bring favourite items of furniture
as well as those photographs, ornaments and mementoes which create
a really homely atmosphere.
A nurse call system operates in all areas of the home.
There is a well equipped medical room and local doctors call regularly.
Residents are helped to look after their own medication if they
wish, while for others we will administer medication according to
the doctor's prescription. Other visiting health professionals include
community nurses, dentists, opticians and chiropodists (We do not
offer nursing care).
The home is registered with the National Care
Standards Commission who can be contacted at:
NCSC (Cornwall an Isle of Scilly) Area Office, John Keary House,
Tregonnissey Road, St Austell PL25 4AD. Tel: 01726 624550
Every effort has been made at Tremethick House
to ensure the residents lack nothing that will bring them comfort,
happiness and security. Special diets can be catered for and our
staff provide the comfort and dignity of home without any of the
worry and maintenance. Above all, each resident is respected as
an individual with the right to express that individuality. Tremethick
can be seen as a secure background to a fulfilling life for the
elderly where they can reflect on the past and confidently look
forward to the future.
The Managing Partner, Mrs Mary Anson, is a registered
general nurse and has many years experience at a senior level in
both private and charitable homes, while her Head of Care, Mrs Denise
Ball, has worked at Tremethick for many years. Mrs Sarah Eustice,
Administration Manager, also has significant care experience. Sarah
and Denise have recently completed an NVQ 4 in Care Home Management.
Denise is an NVQ training assessor and she ensures that the care
staff are trained to look after our residents in the most appropriate
way to meet their respective needs at this time in their lives.
